This event delves into the question: How might we harness the power of play and the arts to anchor foundational academic and socioemotional skills?

Drawing inspiration from Byrd Baylor’s Everybody Needs a Rock, participants will experience the science and beauty of rocks, explore the natural landscapes of San Diego, engage with fellow enthusiasts of geological wonders, and create a special gratitude gift for the rock in their lives. Throughout the event, we will demonstrate project-based learning (PBL) practices and culturally responsive teaching strategies, providing valuable insights that can be integrated into TK-2nd grade classrooms.
