Kind of Event
Project-based learning offers opportunities for equity and innovation in schools; design thinking offers a framework for creativity. Together, they offer the opportunity to create original curricula for equitable access to deeper learning.
In this workshop, participants develop capacities to create contexts wherein each and every student offers unique and meaningful solutions to authentic problems found in communities that they care about. And, we aim to unleash the creative confidence of educators through accessible, attainable skills and beliefs.
Participants will use protocols and practices like empathy-based, human-centered design and collaborative ideation to generate and nominate promising PBL concepts. We will explore parallel prototyping, opportunities for fieldwork in all contexts, and collaborative partners in your communities. Participants will leave with a set of skills and protocols to continue using, as well as a framework to facilitate PBL within their own classrooms.
This event is generously supported by the California Department of Education for California public school educators. If you are an educator outside of California, please contact us about programming for your needs.
