In-person guided exploration of HTH K-12 school community
Join us to learn more about our San Diego Teacher Residency at the HTH Graduate School of Education and hear from our program directors, students, and alumni regarding program highlights, the student experience, and admissions.
We believe that all children deserve a space where they can bring their full selves and develop as curious, critical, and creative human beings. We also believe that children deserve to see the cultural richness of their own communities reflected in their teachers. Public school classrooms have enormous potential to live into these goals— and the San Diego Teacher Residency is part of the movement to make that transformation happen, one new teacher at a time. SDTR provides a hands-on approach to teacher preparation with an emphasis on learning to educate for justice and deeper learning.
In Year 1, SDTR residents take coursework at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education and participate in a year-long residency at a partner school in San Diego county. Year 1 culminates with residents earning their CA preliminary teaching credential. In Year 2, our students work as employed teachers while returning one night per week to HTH GSE for continued coursework. Residents use tools from lesson study and continuous improvement to guide an inquiry project connected to a dilemma of practice in their classrooms. Year 2 culminates in a Master’s degree in Teaching & Learning.
Visit our program website to learn more! If none of the live sessions work for you, please continue through this registration process to receive a recording and we’ll be in touch. Feel free to contact us at admissions@hthgse.edu with questions and schedule a meeting with Admissions.
