PBL Design Camp Hawaiʻi is a three-day, immersive, hands-on workshop for educators who want to design meaningful learning experiences that engage students and connect to the world beyond the classroom. In collaboration with Kupu Hou Academy facilitators who have partnered with schools across Hawaiʻi, participants dive into the art of designing high-quality Project-Based Learning (PBL). Rooted in Hawaiʻi’s rich culture and place-based context, PBL Design Camp Hawaiʻi magnifies the importance of connections to local communities and learning environments.

Throughout the camp, educators use proven design frameworks to plan a powerful PBL unit—from initial concept to classroom launch. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow educators, exchanging ideas, building community, and learning alongside colleagues who share a commitment to deeper learning. Structured peer critique protocols provide real, actionable feedback to help refine and strengthen your project design.

By the end of the experience, participants leave with a PBL plan tailored to their students, standards, and local context. The camp emphasizes deeper learning outcomes, supporting students in mastering content, thinking critically, and tackling complex problems. Designed for immediate classroom impact, educators walk away with practical tools, adaptable resources, and the confidence to bring their projects to life.

Whether you are new to PBL or looking to deepen and strengthen your practice, this immersive experience equips you with the mindset, skills, and professional network to transform teaching—and student learning.
