Cady Staff Hwang is an enthusiastic educator and lifelong learner. She grew up in LA (go Dodgers!) and stayed in San Diego after college (go Padres!). She really likes to cheer for everyone! Over the past twenty years, she has taught high school English, 8th grade Humanities, 5th grade, 3rd grade and K-5 Science. She was a founding teacher at HTMMA and HTMCV. She loves working with students, educators and the community to build a more equitable, loving and healthy world together. She earned her undergraduate degree in Literature/Writing, her teaching credential and a Masters in Education at UCSD. She completed work for her second Masters in Teacher Leadership through the HTH Graduate School of Education where she focused on social entrepreneurship, empowerment and student engagement. For the past three years, she worked as a STEAM resource teacher developing curriculum to empower curious, creative problem-solvers in San Diego Unified School District. She also worked with the Coding Our Future Team to help make computer science curriculum accessible to ALL students. She is thrilled to be returning to the classroom to teach 6th grade Humanities this year and feels so lucky and overjoyed to be joining the HTMM family! Teaching is her professional joy! She also loves being a mom, great questions, spending time with family and friends, running, laughing, hiking, camping, silly hats, pretending her life is a musical and learning adventures.
