Dr. Greg Ottinger, native San Diegan who has spent the last two decades as a teacher, researcher, and executive leader focused on creating incredible outcomes for learners of all ages. Most recently, Greg led and supported finance and operational areas for the second-largest school district in California (21st largest in the United States). In this capacity, he balanced district budgets with between $36M and $124M reductions in operational expenses each year from 2017 to 2021, with a laser focus on equity and incredible outcomes for each and every learner. He also supported and helped create educational opportunities including a master's degree in educational leadership with the San Diego County Office of Education and San Diego State University. He also led multiple collaborative efforts with leaders from 42 school districts as well as charter schools and community partner organizations to identify areas for innovative education developments and professional opportunities for students, faculty, staff, parents, and community members.
Most importantly, Greg cherishes his role as a devoted father to two young children and husband to Cathleen, a fellow educator and San Diego native. Due to his love of nature and athletic challenges, Greg can often be found exploring remote trails and mountains or competing in, or supporting friends in 200+ mile trail races/adventures. Let’s GO!
