John started his journey in education as a Biology and Environmental Science Teacher at High Tech High school in 2004. Exploring the sciences with students is one of his strongest passions, and project-based learning is fundamental to his teaching philosophy. As a teacher-leader, John is involved in collaborations and coaching with a global network of educators with the goal of bringing people together to consider how we can design projects that cultivate conditions for equitable, authentic, and deep learning experiences for young people. He is honored to be part of High Tech High’s Graduate School of Education as a co-facilitator of the Designing for Deeper Learning course. John holds a B.S. in Biology from UCSD as well as a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from High Tech High’s Graduate School of Education.
