Nicole Hubbard has worked as a math educator for over 16 years and began her journey in education at High Tech High International. She spent 10 years with the High Tech High organization as a math and science teacher where she developed her love for PBL and commitment to student centered learning. She has also worked with the San Diego Unified School District as a math teacher and central office secondary math resource teacher. Nicole is involved as a teacher leader with a national network of math and science educators through the Knowles Teaching Initiative. As a Senior Math Fellow with Knowles, she has served as a member of the Engineering Leadership Team and Coaching Network, supported the original development of High Tech High’s Project ASCENT improvement community team with Knowles, taught with the Knowles Academy, and continues to coach and mentor new teachers and fellows. She spent one year teaching math in Thailand, collaborating with co-teachers in a dual-language Thai-English program and working to elevate the voices of multilingual students in the math classroom. Nicole holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Cal Poly and her Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus in Secondary Mathematics from the University of Southern California. She is excited to be joining the High Tech High GSE this year as a Math Improvement Facilitator and continuing to advocate for learning spaces where all students can build their math identity. Outside of work she loves to hike, read, travel, and juggle life as a sports-mom-chauffeur to her 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter.
