Rhea’s career at High Tech High began in 2007. She has served as an Academic Coach, Education Specialist, Classroom Teacher (in 2nd and 3rd Grade), and now as the Dean of Students. Outside of the elementary classroom setting, she has also worked with HTH Teacher Induction Program, the HTH PBL Academy, as a PBL and SEL (social-emotional learning) workshop facilitator, and is very honored and excited to join the HTH Graduate School of Education (HTH GSE) as faculty who will facilitate the Foundations of Classroom Culture course for the San Diego Teacher Residency Program.
Rhea is a first generation college graduate earning her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential from San Diego State, as well as her Education Specialist Credential and Masters of Education in Educational Leadership both from the HTH GSE. Rhea’s passion and priority as an educator is rooted in connections with others within her school community, most importantly, with students. In the simple words of the late Rita Pierson, “Kids don't learn from people they don't like.” Rhea will always aspire to help children know that they are worthy, they are loved, and that they belong.
