Ryan Gallagher is the Director of Continuous Improvement at HTH GSE Center for Research on Equity and Innovation in San Diego. He has served in this position since 2019 with a primary focus on building the capacity of educational leaders to support sustained improvement work, designing and facilitating external institutes and customized residencies focused on continuous improvement, and providing improvement leadership coaching to internal and external partners. Ryan is the project director for Improvement for Equity by Design, which is responsible for building the capacity of Gates Foundation grantee equity-focused continuous improvement efforts. Ryan provided coaching to school district teams engaged in the CARPE college access improvement network and the NGSS early implementation network and teaches courses in the HTH GSE focused on continuous improvement. He presents regularly at conferences and convenings, including the American Education Research Association, Gates Foundation Communities of Practice, Deeper Learning, and higher education institutions. Ryan initially came to High Tech High as a classroom teacher, teaching math and science at the middle and high school levels and is passionate about continuous improvement as a lever for creating more equitable systematic change. In his spare time he is the fourth highest scorer on his Wordle text chain.
