What I love about TAP is the sense of community that I have with my cohort. We're all super close, and I love that I can always bounce ideas off of anyone. And so it just makes for a really stimulating environment. I think people are really welcoming within the school community already, and when you put TAP on top of that with teachers who are coming in that-- candidates that are coming in and interested in being teachers, you really just add even more opportunities to network, to build relationships, to find individuals who have the same passions as you, and to coalesce around that. I think what makes TAP distinctive from other programs, or at least one of the things, is the fact that our equity course is a year-long course. Anyone who is doing the work and knows anything about liberation work, you know that it's an ongoing journey. There's a lot of self work, but it's done in the program. And by really delving into ourselves, we're able to better and more fully serve our students. Co-teachers as well as the supervising teachers both want to support the candidates as much as possible for their specific needs, strengths, desires, obstacles that may come up. I feel like the personalization starts from the very beginning. The candidate is accepted. We really try to work with them to figure out what is the best placement for them. A lot of people try and decide whether or not middle school or high school or elementary is the right place for them. So when we talk to them, we think about what their interests are, and we try and match them with a cooperating teacher that can best suit their interests and have a really good working relationship. And I think the amount of time that they get to spend in classrooms is really, really unique in terms of how much they get to observe and actually try the practices out in their classrooms, because they're there four days a week. Here with the TAP program, we do a lot of the reading and then put into practice, for example, what's assigned to us every week. We kind of enact the readings real time. And I that's really important, because it keeps everything fresh. If you're interested in TAP, I would say try your best to come visit a high tech high school. And within the first couple of minutes, you'll see that we're a different type of organization, and I think you'll really love it if it's for you. And just really being able to participate in just their movement from coming and not really knowing that much or having a ton of experience as a teacher, as a coach. And then seeing that by the end of the year the confidence in their abilities, their awareness of self, the way that they're able to connect with their students. And of course, they learn a ton of pedagogy, but there's so much personal growth that I think happens in this particular program because of this cohort model that they don't only come out as better practitioners, but they literally leave the program as better human beings.
