Will I get paid for an Unboxed article?
Yes indeed. Unboxed pays $250 (US Dollars) for an article, upon online publication.
How long should my article be?
Unboxed articles are typically between 1000 and 3000 words. Having said that, every article has a different length that it needs to be. If it’s helpful to have a target, aim for either 1000 words or 2000 words.
How formal should it be? Should I go full-on “academic”?
Definitely not. Unboxed is a journal first and foremost for professional educators, not academia.
Here’s the tone to go for:
Imagine that you’ve just spent a day at the greatest education conference you’ve ever been to, and you’re at happy hour with a bunch of inspiring educators who you just met. Write the article like you’re talking to them.
A caveat: this article should be valuable as well as interesting. Ask yourself, what will the reader do with this information after they read your article?
Is there a style guide I should follow?
Indeed there is! It’s here.
I have an idea for an article! Where should I send it?
Send it to unboxed [at] hthgse.edu, or send us a message here!
