Deeper Learning

We define deeper learning as the higher-order thinking abilities, learning dispositions, and collaboration skills that students need to succeed in twenty-first century work and civic life.

Teaching for deeper learning requires educators to build meaningful relationships, connect learning to what matters in the world, and engage young people in critical and challenging opportunities for thinking and doing. Deeper learning competencies promote the ability to transfer and apply learning to new and complex situations in an ever-changing global environment.

Two young people smile and work together on a woodworking project in a workshop, experiencing deeper learning as they use tools at a large workbench surrounded by shelves, equipment, and supplies.
