Hi! My name is Michelle Babick and this is my 6th year at High Tech High and 14th year in the classroom. I began my teaching career as a NYC Teaching Fellow where I taught in public schools throughout Brooklyn. Outside of work, I love hitting the gym [making gains], meals with a lot of protein, boxing, spending time with my beautiful handsome dog, Buddy, and watching horror films. In my early years as an educator, I discovered my passion for teaching history as a means of raising critical consciousness. Effective social science teaching fosters an in-depth understanding of the world around us and inspires students to take action against injustice. In addition, during my last two years as ELD Teacher and Coordinator, I have deepened my dedication to inclusive classrooms that utilize effective ELD and UDL strategies and protocols. I am particularly interested in working with new teachers to learn more about how to improve student’s use of academic language in the classroom. Finally, my years at HTH have deepened my love of PBL practice and I am excited to learn more with you all about how PBL is a powerful equity lever!
