Shani Leader

Lead Designer
“I’m honored to design learning experiences for educators, school leaders, and students that center love, justice, and deeper learning. In this work, I strive to listen deeply and uplift the voices of students, teachers, and families—believing that lasting, meaningful change in education begins with the people it’s meant to serve.”

Shani is the Lead Designer at the Center for Love & Justice, where she co-designs and facilitates transformative learning experiences for teacher and school leaders to create and redesign schools into spaces where young people feel seen, heard, empowered, and connected to their communities. Her work supports system-wide transformation rooted in deeper learning, critical consciousness, and collective liberation. Prior to this role, Shani spent over a decade in the High Tech High network in San Diego, where she served as a founding art teacher at three schools and later took on leadership roles including Project Based Learning coach, Dean of Students, Outreach Coordinator, and Director at High Tech High North County. She holds a B.A. in Child Development and Studio Art from Tufts University, where she also studied abroad at the University of Ghana in Accra, and earned two Master’s degrees: one in Art Education from Tufts and The Museum School of Fine Arts, and another in Educational Leadership from the High Tech High Graduate School. Across all her roles, Shani brings a deep commitment to student-centered learning, creativity, and equity-driven educational design.
