Dave is a PhD student in Education Studies at UCSD. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, he served as a teacher, administrator, and consultant in California public district and charter schools. David’s research interests revolve around public school district leadership and governance, and more specifically, organizational systems and structures that support transformational school leadership. In his academic work, he intends to explore how the intersectional identities of individual agents interact with larger structures in educational organizations, bringing together scholarly traditions in critical race theory, relational sociology, and leadership studies. Dave holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Latin American Studies and Anthropology from the University of Arizona, an M.A. in Latin American Studies from UC Berkeley, and an Ed.M. in Education Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
