Amanda is excited to join the San Diego Teacher Residency faculty! She is passionate about teacher education and mentorship that empowers teachers to focus on equity and inclusion in their classrooms. Throughout her 10 years of upper elementary classroom experience, Amanda was dedicated to culturally responsive and social justice educational practices that encourage students to understand and celebrate their own identities, respect and appreciate the diversity of their community, and understand the importance of justice and action to create meaningful change. She is committed to reflective practice and is excited to continue to learn and grow as an equity focused educator.
Amanda is currently the SST Coordinator and Instructional Coach at High Tech Elementary in Chula Vista. Additionally, Amanda has worked with the San Diego Teacher Residency as a Mentor teacher and Lead Mentor focused on developing culturally sustaining mentorship relationships that empower both the resident and mentor to grow as educators. Amanda has also designed and taught several courses in the High Tech High Teacher’s Center District Intern Program including Equity & Diversity and Culturally Responsive Teaching. Amanda holds a B.S. and M.A. in Educational Studies from Tufts University in Boston.
