The essence of the workers, who our young people are, and honoring that, first and foremost, who they are, it’s recognizing that they come to us with passions and interests and abilities already. And if we’re going to address the factors that led to their disengagement, educationally, we have to begin as it naturally began, with honoring who they are and their expression. So that is the essence of high school [? for ?] recording [? us– ?] it’s our students, it’s their stories, it’s their culture, it’s their sense of purpose.
