Curtis A. Taylor, Ed.D. is the Director of the National Attendance & Engagement Meta Network at the National Coalition for Improvement in Education, housed within the High Tech High Graduate School of Education. In this role, he leads a national network of educators, districts, and organizations working collaboratively to address chronic absenteeism through improvement science and shared learning.
Curtis’s work centers on supporting improvement teams and educators to test, refine, and scale practices that foster student engagement, belonging, and success. He is deeply committed to ensuring that every student, especially Black, Latino, and Indigenous students, experiences school as a place where they feel seen, valued, and their brilliance is recognized and nurtured. This commitment drives his focus on equity, justice, and liberation as core principles in both design and implementation.
Prior to his current role, Curtis served as an improvement facilitator for the CARE Network, an initiative focused on increasing 8th grade on-track outcomes, and as a lesson study facilitator supporting teacher learning and instructional improvement. He brings over a decade of experience in K–12 education, where he worked as a classroom teacher and developed a strong foundation in student-centered, equity-driven practice.
Curtis is also a faculty member at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, where he teaches in the San Diego Teacher Residency and supports the development of future educators. He holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from Clemson University, an M.Ed. from the University of San Diego, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of California, San Diego.
