ELENA GUTIERREZ: We are working on a project where we are learning about our brain, and what our brain needs when we learn, and what our brain needs when we move, and learning about how people’s brains are different, and how our bodies move differently.
And we are at APEX. And at our field trip, our kids got to move their bodies in a way that they probably never moved their bodies before. And before we got to our field trip, we talked a lot about how our brains need brain breaks when we’re learning so that we can make more connections between the different parts of our brains. So we learned about how those are really important and how we can work together if some friends need more help than others to move their body in a different way, which they’re getting to practice here at APEX.
We’ve talked about growth mindset. And a lot of the times a lot of things seem tricky, and it’s easy to just say, I can’t do it. And the class has really become a community and work together and encouraged each other to try tricky things. And at APEX, we saw some friends have some tears, but they got over it by continuing to try and having their friends’ support there.
