High Tech High Media Arts 12th grade students create outdoor art in one of their first activities back on campus.
Magraret:
Hello, I’m Margaret Noble. And I’m here with my 12th grade seniors. It’s their second day back from being on remote learning for an entire year. Some of them were timid and some of them were unsure. So we decided to do outdoor art projects to break the ice. Today, our outdoor project is stained glass chalk art. All of us, including the teachers and students were just getting used to returning to school and what that looks like. And you know, how do we collaborate together within six feet of distancing? And how do we use materials and we’re not supposed to touch anything. So there’s been a lot of complications in planning, but everybody felt great about being outside. It felt really safe. And since it is a multimedia class and we are doing kind of computer programming and art when we’re remote, it felt good to just do physical art. And we’re going to continue this trend until the school year ends of once a week meeting and doing outdoor art in a variety of ways.
