Video Notes

Fernando Vega’s 6th grade students from High Tech Middle North County explored the four elements of Hip Hop from its inception (DJing, Breakdancing, MCing, and Graffiti). They received specialized breakdancing training from visiting experts. After becoming acclimated with all the elements, students chose the one they connected with the most and went in depth. The project will culminated with a genuine Bronx style lamp party that featured low riders, break dancing, M.C.ing, D.J. ing and the students’ artwork seen below in the video.

This project is also being developed for a PBL Essentials toolkit that shows more key aspects of the project, resources, students and teacher reflection plus much more.
